Alexandra Curca – Music Teacher

I am Alexandra Curca and I have the great pleasure of being the new music teacher both in the Romanian and Cambridge sections. I study music since I was in the second grade and my lifetime experience as a musician has taught me that music as a universal language has a magical way of bringing people together. The way it creates itself, the way we can all connect and speak through it, it’s something we can all relate to in one way or another. My journey at Maarif has just started and I am very happy to share with the kids all the joys that music has given me.

Flavia Hassan – Romanian Teacher

I’m Flavia Hassan. Students of the upper primary and lower secondary level study Romanian with me, both as a mother tongue and as a foreign language. I always liked to communicate, and that’s why I attended the courses dedicated to journalism at Bucharest University. For a while, I put into practice what I learnt in the field of print media and radio. I had the opportunity to meet different personalities of Romanian political and cultural life. This experience taught me to discover different people who respond openly when approached with respect, pure heart and generosity. I have applied this lesson to my relationships with students as well. For 10 years I taught Romanian in a school where the children came from different nations. I love my mother tongue and I think it has a grammatical structure that can cover the finer nuances of an idea. I think I managed to convey to the children the desire to find answers to challenges and, over time, to learn this language with love. In turn, they repaid me by giving me their enthusiasm and youth.
